Dr Daniel Brown, Chairman

A successful serial entrepreneur, Daniel first founded a computer software business at the age of 13, which he ran for five years. He studied Chemical Physics and then Philosophy where he developed a passion for probability and network theory. During his doctorate in clinical psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry he developed unique computer techniques for quantifying processes of change, which were used to build interactive models of stress based on variable subject profiles. Using this methodology for automating the fulfilment of variable user needs, Daniel co-founded APR Smartlogik, a business which he built to 50 people and revenues of $6m, winning the Times Innovation award in 2001 and NLB Visionary Design award in 2003. He is the inventor of a range of patents, author of several books and over thirty papers, guest lecturer and Entrepreneur in Residence at University College London, and a high profile global speaker and media commentator on Information Systems. He is a director of MegaNexus Ltd, the social networking company.

Professor Jonathan Tennyson FRS, Chief Scientist

Jonathan Tennyson

Massey Professor of Physics and Head of UCL’s Department of Physics & Astronomy. He is the leader of a large and successful research team studying a wide range of the problems in the physics of molecules. He studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge and obtained a doctorate in Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Sussex. After periods working in the Netherlands and a research laboratory he came to UCL where he founded the Theoretical Atomic and Molecular Physics and Astrophysics reasearch group (TAMPA) which currently contains about 25 people. He is the author of over 500 papers in the scientific literature as well as number of popular articles and a book. He has developed methods for studying electron molecule collisions for over twenty years. In that time specific calculations have been performed for problems to do with plasma etching, the edge of fusion plasmas, atmospheric processes, astrophysics, neutrino mass determination and radiation damage in biological systems. His group also studies the way molecules absorb and emit light with particular emphasis on processes important for the Earth’s atmosphere and astrophysics.

Anna Dzarasova, Project Manager

Anna graduated with a Physics Degree from Moscow State University in 2005, and most recently she received an MA in Marketing from London Metropolitan University. With more than 5 years of sales and project management experience Anna is very keen to apply her knowledge and experience in managing such a challenging project as Quantemol. You can always get in contact her if you have questions regarding purchasing Quantemol software: anna@quantemol.com

Stephen Harrison, Scientist, Customer Support & Website Support

Stephen is now in his third year at Quantemol. He is part of our sales team, as well as producing the company brochures and being the webmaster for Quantemol. As part of his own research at UCL he is investigating molecules in interstellar environments, and has utilised Quantemol-N to help provide him with data.

Dr Sergio López, Scientist & Product Development

Sergio is a theoretical physicist with more than a decade of experience in Physical Chemistry, modeling and computational simulations. He studied photodissociation processes during his PhD, using ab initio and quantum dynamical methods, and his main field of interest in recent years has been the development of computational methods to simulate the dynamics of large molecular systems and the excitation of electrons through laser impulses, at the Technical University of Munich. He is now developing the Quantemol suite of applications and supporting our clients in the optimisation of their plasma tools and processes.

Dr Adam Williams, Scientist, Product Development & Website Support

Adam is the newest member of the Quantemol team. His PhD was concerned with the measurement of positron collision cross sections, which involved the construction and development of a new experimental beam line. To complement this work he also wrote a classical trajectory Monte Carlo simulation to model such interactions. Adam plans to use his array of skills to help further develop the Quantemol software.

Will Brigg, Scientist, Product Development & Webmaster

Will joined Quantemol in September 2010 and is currently also working on his PhD with methane. The R-matrix codes are his bible now. Will is also a magician of Java. The web-site says more about Will then he would like to tell about himself, as he is a web-support person. Will is our gadgets and hi-tech purchasing manager and always finds the best things for great prices. So, if you want us to buy something please contact Will on will@quantemol.com.

Dr Jacobo Varela-Rodrigez, Scientist & Product Development

Jacobo has gained his doctorate in Plasma Physics and Nuclear Fusion, in the Plasma research group in University Carlos III of Madrid. Collaborated with the research center: National Institute for Fusion Energy (Japan,Toki). His main responsibility was developing MHD models to study the plasma stability inside the fusion devices. Jacobo is a post-doc Marie Curie Scholarship holder in the project CORINF. His challenge in Quantemol is working with complex plasma models for semiconductor industry and studying how to expand these models to other areas, for example, how to adapt the approaches to plasma-wall interaction inside fusion devices.

Dr Hemal Varambhia, Indian Ambassador, Quantemol

Hemal Varambhia

Hemal Varambhia made extensive use of Quantemol software during his PhD studies at UCL. He remains an advisor to the company.
